Welcome

Why indoor heated?

When learning to swim, children need to be in warm water, helping them to concentrate on the tasks set for them in class. The parents in our Aquatots (babies class) are also happier when the water is warm. The water in our pool is heated to a very comfortable 31-33 degrees Celsius year round.

No age limits.

We undertake baby and child learn-to-swim classes. Competitive squads and teenage fitness squads.

Our advancement policy promotes each child on merit, on their ability in the water, not on age.

Why salt water?

There is less or no irritation for those suffering from eczema or other skin complaints. There is no strong smelling chlorine on your children. And as a result there is less chemical fumes than other indoor swimming centres. It's HEALTHIER for you and your child

What age can your child start with Shire Swim School?

We start babies before they lose their 'dive reflex' teaching them to close down their airways and mouth, instead of swallowing the water.

Three months old is a great time to start them but we start them as young as two weeks old. The sooner a child has interaction with the water, the sooner they will learn to swim and have respect for it.

There are benefits to both parent and baby including advancement of fine and gross motor skills, co-ordination and muscle development. As well as the obvious benefit of bonding - skin to skin, parent to child.

WE BELIEVE EVERY CHILD IS UNIQUELY DIFFERENT, LIKE A SNOWFLAKE,

NO TWO ARE THE SAME.
